A'plas was an adventure. I climbed a volcano. I witnessed beauty of the Earth. I saw starvation among children. Through a pair of headphones, I listened to stories of incomprehensible hardship and poverty in a language I do not understand. In the following months of postproduction, I grew to know their scarred faces, their sad eyes. Uninhibited by the ability to interpret their tongue, my mind was sharply pierced by the heartbreak in their voices. I hope you can hear the richness within this documentary as I can; a collage of warm sunshine and chilling murders, fly-infested meat markets and congested urban highways. Color. Contrast. Quiet.
